Yin

Yin Yoga is the art of being able to let go. You can expect to bring your focus in this hour long class on the present moment and your conscious and intelligent body.  Passive positions are held for a 3-5 min to help release fascia and connective tissue so that the energy in the body can flow more freely. This class is an all-level class and a gentle practice.

Feel free to bring some fuzzy socks and a warm sweater to your yin practice so you can really snuggle up and enjoy the long holds, warm and comfortable.

All levels welcome!

Yin+Aromatherapy

Through this yin class we will use essential oils to aid the process of getting deeper inwards and feeling more grounded. Essential oils are naturally occurring compounds, found in flowers, roots, seeds, bark, stems and other parts of plants. We will use their healing properties through light diffusion, as well as in contact with the skin through gentle massages. The oils are 100% clean and safely used. In yin we focus on releasing tensions in the fascia, to better mobility and flexibility in joints and muscles. We stay in each position for longer, practicing patience, stillness and silence. This class can help you to let go and learn to trust yourself in the process.

Yin+Yoga Nidra

This practice is a combination of Yin and Yoga Nidra. Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. While you rest comfortably in savasana, this systematic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness.

"In yoga nidra, we restore our body, senses, and mind to their natural function and awaken a seventh sense that allows us to feel no separation, that only sees wholeness, tranquility, and well-being" - Richard Miller

Feel free to bring some fuzzy socks, a warm sweater and an eye pillow (if you have) to your yin + yoga nidra practice so you can really snuggle up and enjoy the long holds, warm and comfortable.

Rest+Restore

Rest + Restore helps you enter a state of deep relaxation as you hold soft poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to make you comfortable and supported throughout the hour. The main focus of restorative yoga, is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of props, without strain or pain, you can enter a deeper state of physical, mental and emotional relaxation. The slowing down also helps stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, which again deepens your breath, slows your heart rate, increase the blood flow to your vital organs, and reduce overall stresses in our body. The practice is great to balance an active yoga schedule or to give yourself a break when you feel under the weather.

Slow Flow

An hour of grounding, calming the nervous system and beginning to get ourselves out of our minds and into our bodies. A simple flow, working from the feet up to standing postures and then we begin to work our way down to find our steadiness and ease in seated postures.

Slow Flow is for all levels!

Jivamukti

Jivamukti Magic 10 + Meditation: The Magic Ten is a  series of ten simple exercises, designed by Sharon Gannon, that can be done in about ten minutes. It is a good way  to get your body moving first thing in the morning or at any time you need a “pep up.”  IThis is also the warm up for the Spiritual Warrior class, and the first six exercises are the warm up for the Fundamentals class.

Jivamukti Fundamentals:  Whereas in the Open and Spiritual Warrior classes vinyasa is emphasized, in the Fundamentals class alignment is the emphasis. Students are taught “how to do” asanas as well as the use of props. The Fundamentals class provides the underlying structure to help a student be able to eventually enter into an Open class intelligently and safely. Beginners are encouraged to take all four weeks of the Fundamentals course. Intermediate and advanced students will also benefit from exploring the alignment essentials presented in these classes. It is advisable that a student register for the full 4 week program starting with week one, but a student can also drop into any class at any time during the month and can also take as many classes as they want each week. This class is suitable for beginners, but open to all levels of practitioner. The length of a Fundamentals class may vary at different centers, so please check the schedule for the location you are attending.

Each Jivamukti Fundamentals class is part of a four-week course that explores a different theme each week:

  • Week One: Standing Asanas

  • Week Two: Forward Bending Asanas

  • Week Three: Backward Bending Asanas

  • Week Four: Turning It Upside Down and Putting it All Together
